Working with other Faiths
I am a committed and practicing Christian, I have no problem telling anybody about that fact. Most of the people I associate with are Christians, my life has worked out that way. I go to Church and Myself and Shelagh are very active members there, Shelagh as a Worship Leader and singer, me as a sound engineer, surprise surprise. So we tend have our friends from where we are happiest, so they tend be Christians.
I take my faith and belief in Christ as risen Lord very seriously, so last week when I was asked to do some work for a Charity of another faith I was left in a turmoil, I cannot as a Christian promote another faith, that is a sin to get people to worship a false god, breaking one of the Ten Commandment no less. I spoke to my Minister, a very wise person who I respect greatly, and he advised I speak to an elder who works with people of this faith, so I spoke to her, and she was a great comfort. She counselled me with some wise words or reassurance. She said if the work you are doing is for welfare and not promoting the religion then there is nothing wrong.
So I got an email from the organisation and set about what I honestly believe to be a very good bit of very careful writing to promote what they want. I am now awaiting a signed off script so I can produce what I think will be a very good advertising campaign.
When I had written the campaign I showed it to my friend Matt, and we had a really good conversation as I still felt uncomfortable being where I was, but as he wisely put it, if I get to share my faith with the people I am dealing with it is being an evangelist and sharing Gods word. I am not compromising my Faith, by helping others, in fact I am showing the Love of Jesus.
